More Flexibility!

Introducing the FD2 PLUS FlexDraper®

MacDon didn't set out to build just another flexing cutterbar draper, we took our legendary FlexDraper® platform and pushed ground-following performance to the next level. With over 2 inches of extra flex at the cutterbar, it hugs the ground tighter, reaching deeper into low spots and scooping up every last bit of available crop. Unlike other flex headers, the FD2 PLUS flexes without compromise, maintaining MacDon's close reel-to-cutterbar relationship for smooth, consistent feeding. The ultra-light instant float response keeps the header moving effortlessly with the land, cutting closer, capturing more crop, and helping your customers GET MORE from every harvest.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: What are the top selling features of the FD2 PLUS?

A:         1The Closest Reel-to-Cutterbar Relationship in a Flexing Cutterbar

The FD2 PLUS features a full-length flex cutterbar for exceptional ground tracking while maintaining the majority of the reel-to-cutterbar relationship, allowing the reel fingers to lift and guide the cut crop onto the drapers. In competitive flex cutterbars, excessive flexing may cut the crop, but a wide gap to the tips of the reel fingers could put it out of reach.

A:         2. Simply Reliable Flexing Cutterbar

The FD2 PLUS features a simple yet highly reliable leaf spring flexing cutterbar, delivering a feather-light float response that instantly adapts to ground conditions. This system works in tandem with our flexing frame and MacDon's Active Float System which supports up to 97% of the header's weight.

A:         3. High-Capacity Multi-Crop Solution

Like the FD2, the FD2 PLUS is built for multi-crop harvesting, seamlessly adapting to different conditions. With just a few easy lockouts, it transforms from a fully flexing frame and cutterbar to a completely rigid unit. Equipped with 50-inch deep drapers, it effortlessly handles high-volume crops, ensuring smooth, heads-first feeding. This versatility allows customers to maximize performance across multiple crops using a single header solution.

Q: What are the Size and Configuration Differences from an FD2?

A:         • The FD2 PLUS is available in 30, 35, 40, 41, 45 and 50-foot configurations.

Excluding the 30-foot models, the FD2 PLUS comes standard with a Double Knife Drive.

40, 45, and 50-foot units come standard with a triple reel.

-

Q: The FD2 already works great to shave the ground, so who would I recommend the PLUS to?

A:         1. For Customers with Extremes

The FD2 PLUS is built for extremes and customers who feel they need a flexing cutterbar for their conditions. It's designed for producers who grow low-podding crops in highly uneven or hilly fields or those who need to navigate challenging terraces and waterways.

A:         2. Running a Wider Header in Extremely Irregular Field Conditions

The FD2 PLUS's ability to closely follow irregular ground allows customers with extremely uneven field conditions to consider running a wider header than usual. A wider FD2 PLUS would increase efficiency, save time, reduce fuel consumption, and optimize their overall harvesting performance.

-

Q: Does the FD2 PLUS Require Any Extra Maintenance or Adjustments Over an FD2?

A:         No. The FD2 PLUS adjusts exactly the same way as an FD2 FlexDraper. The simple leaf spring design of the flexing cutterbar requires no extra daily maintenance.

-

Q: Are There Any Performance Option Differences from an FD2?

A:         Yes. The FD2 PLUS offers the same performance options as the FD2, with two exceptions. First, the Sunflower Kit is not available for this unit. Second, the use of Crop Lifters is not recommended.

-

Q: My Customers Love Being Able to Make Their FD2 Rigid, Does the FD2 PLUS Do That Too?

A:         Yes. Like the FD2, switching the FD2 PLUS from a flexing frame to a rigid frame is as simple as flipping two levers. The FD2 PLUS also allows operators to lock out the flexible cutterbar with an equally straightforward process.

-

Q: Is There a Big Weight Difference Going to Flexing Cutterbar?

A:         Compared to the FD2, the FD2 PLUS has a slight weight difference of approximately 8 pounds per foot.

-

Q: When can I order the FD2 PLUS FlexDraper®?

A:         Pricing and order writing for FD2 PLUS will be available with the release of MacDon’s 2026 model year early order program.

-

Q: When will this product be released publicly?

A:         Public release is happening in July 2025
